N-Find'em also finds vowel rhymes (e.g. love & snug), and inflection
rhymes as in star & tomorrow when tomorrow is said with a southern

rhyme via RHYME.EXE.
Note: Files in [brackets] are not included with the shareware version.
HOW TO INSTALL Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em
Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em will run on your floppy disk simply
by inserting the Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em disk and typing "RHYME"
followed by the 'Enter' key. However, make a back-up copy first. Refer
to your DOS manual to learn how to do back-up copies. Additionally, it
is wise to place a "write protect" tab on your original. Place it over
the notch in the corner of the cover. This will prevent accidental
erasure of the Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em files.
Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em works best when installed on your
Hard Drive, so you will need to copy all the files from the Rhymin'
Simon Spell-N-Find'em disk to the subdirectory of your choice on the
hard drive. (Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em does not care what drive or
directory it is on, but all the files MUST stay together in the same
directory!). First, make a back-up copy as stated above, keeping the
original in a safe place. To install, place the Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-
Find'em disk in the A: drive. Next, get to the C:> prompt (if not
already there) by typing C:<cr>. Note that <cr> is commonly used to
indicate the Carriage Return or Enter Key. Use the following example as
a guide for the rest of your hard drive installation:
COMMAND... COMMENT...
prompt $p$g<cr> show directory path
cd\<cr> get to the root directory
md\rhyme<cr> Make a Directory called \RHYME
cd\rhyme<cr> Change Directory to \RHYME
copy a:*.* c:<cr> Copy all files on A: to C: drive
rhyme<cr> Run Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em
Note: the "\" used above is the backslash and not the "/" forward slash!
If you run RHYME from a floppy drive, do not remove the disk unless
Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em is first exited via the quit or ESC key,
otherwise you may corrupt the data files and you will have to re-copy
your original. A floppy system is NOT recommended for use with Rhymin'
Simon Spell-N-Find'em.
Shareware Version of Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em --
If this is the shareware version of Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em,
you are free to use, copy, and distribute the achieved file RHYMING.EXE
where ever you like, as long as you distribute only this file in it's
entirety, without modification. You may not distribute any of the
expanded files.
INSTALLING A RAMDISK
A better way to utilize Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em is to set up
a RAMdisk, copy the appropriate Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em files to
the RAMdisk and run Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em from RAM. This is the
fastest possible way to run Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em and is often
the way I choose to go. You will have to set up a VDISK (virtual disk)
in your CONFIG.SYS file. If you are not familiar with this technique
please check with your computer dealer. If you are familiar with
VDISK.SYS then you will need 520K minimum. Refer to your DOS manual and
use the following as a guide...
In the CONFIG.SYS file add the line...
device = ramdrive.sys [<bbbb>] [<ssss>] [<dddd>] [/e|/a]
Where: ramdrive.sys is the RAMdisk driver file and path
bbbb is the disk size in kilobytes
ssss is the sector size in bytes
dddd is the number of root directory entries
/e allows the use of extended memory above 1 MegaByte
/a allows the use of expanded memory following the
Lotus(R)/Intel(R)/Microsoft(R) Expanded Memory Spec.
Note1: The /e & /a options can not be used at the same time.
If you haven't any memory above 1 MegaByte then don't
use /e or /a.
Example1: device = C:\DOS\VDISK.SYS 520 512 64 /E
Example2: device = C:\DOS\RAMDRIVE.SYS 520 512 64
After rebooting the system (cycle power off/on), you should copy
the following files to the RAMdrive (assume the RAMdrive is D:)...
copy a:RHYME.* d: copy all files starting with RHYME to D:
d: change to the virtual disk
RHYME run Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em
========================================================================
HOW TO CHANGE COLORS (If using a Color Monitor)
Once you have all the files where you would like, you can then run
CONFIG.EXE at the DOS prompt to change the Default Colors.
CONFIG<cr>
Simply follow the instructions as they are given and the colors
will be changed the next time you start Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em.
->The files CONFIG.EXE and RHYME.CFG must be in the current directory.
HOW TO USE Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em
Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em "boots-up" asking you to enter a word
to find. Type the word and Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em will find all
pure rhymes commonly associated with it. If the word is not in the
dictionary, then Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em finds the closest match
it can. Those rhymes preceded by the exclamation mark (!) lead to and
automatically look-up vowel rhymes such as twelve and wealth or lovin'
and cousin. Rhymes preceded by the tilde (~) will rhyme with the root if
pronounced with various regional accents. For example, "tomorrow" will
rhyme with "star" if pronounced with a southern accent (e.g. "ta-mar-
rah"). Occasionally, there will be an "extended" rhyme with both the
exclamation mark (!) and the plus sign (+) as may be found under the
ADE-1 root thus...
!ay+ed{frayed}
This indicates that "ay" words (e.g. play, fray) will rhyme with
the root if "ed" is added to the word; played, frayed, etc. When room is
available an example is given in brackets. It should be noted that
entering a <cr> when the pointer is on an "extended" rhyme will not
necessarily find the root of the rhyme automatically, and common sense
may be required to find the extended root (AY-1 in the above case). This
small limitation was imposed in the interest of clarity to the user, and
database search efficiency. It should not pose a serious inconvenience.
Consonance rhymes are those which don't actually rhyme, but have
enough consonance and assonance to sound good together. Examples are
"babies & ages" and "will & well". They are identified by there
enclosure between ">" & "<". For example, the following consonance
rhymes appear under the EE-2 root...
>babies & ages<
On rare occasions, there will be a root with only a few multi-
syllable rhymes, or many three syllable rhymes but only one or two 4
syllable rhymes. On such occasions, "widowed" rhymes may be found under
the more populous root (see "jazz").
Please note that the rhyme roots are spelled as close to
phonetically as is practical with a standard set of ASCII characters,
thus some roots may look a bit odd. Finally, eye-rhyme roots (words of
similar spelling but different sounds as in "lint and pint"), are not
addressed in this database.

with the 'M'ove rhyme command.
RHYME.MOD
Whenever you invoke the commands A, D, M or INS, the actions that
are done are added to a file called RHYME.MOD - DO NOT DELETE THIS FILE.
This information may be used whenever you upgrade to a newer version of
Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em where I provide a substantially better
database. This way you will not have to lose all the work you did to
customize your list. Also, you can send the list to me and I will
include (at my discretion) your changes in the next release. The second
method is preferred by me so that everyone may benefit from your effort.
To add your RHYME.MOD file to a new version of the Rhymin' Simon
Spell-N-Find'em database, simply execute the ADDMOD.EXE program at the
DOS prompt...
addmod<cr>
Note that all the Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em files must be in
the same sub-directory in order to run ADDMOD.EXE. Also, ADDMOD.EXE is
not included with the shareware version Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em.
========================================================================
I would really like to obtain your RHYME.MOD file. As an inducement,
I will consider your RHYME.MOD file as partial payment toward
future products ($1 for every 20 words) to add to the database - up
to $15 (300 words) off the price of any future products.
The rhymes must be new and accurate!
========================================================================
Also when you add a new rhyme there is a certain amount of wasted
space (noted in brackets in RHYME.MOD) in the database this is only on
the order of 25 or so bytes for each rhyme added, but it is using
valuable space - the only way to reclaim this space is by running the
program REINDEX.EXE, a special re-Indexer which removes the wasted
space. REINDEX.EXE is not included with the shareware version.
There are over 27,000 rhymes in Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em. New
rhymes are being added and improvements are being made continually.
Users will receive notification of enhancements as they become
available. For example, a memory resident version will soon be published
which will make Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-Find'em instantly accessible from
within many popular word processors.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
I would like to thank Derrick Burgess for the search and sorting
algorithms that I used as the base structure for Rhymin' Simon Spell-N-
Find'em.
